I think an experienced NHL coach would be a better fit Carol...just my opinion. |

You should hire Darryl Sutter. |

Dont WD and TG have a similar structure when coaching? It would be a lateral move to me but at this point I am open for any change in that area. |

Thanks Carol. With you on Green not the answer over WD. But like you alluded they need a change.
Also, heard Canucks ranked 16th in prospects. Green has more to do if he gets them. This draft will add more shiny new toys hopefully to all that.
Of course no saviors coming now with prospects or in this draft. But the pieces in key positions indicate the rebuild will have more of a kick soon. |

Does that include Asst coaches?

If JB can get for a second round pick. Would you? Is he worth a second?
First time I've ever listened to a Pat-cast. Botch is talking about saying Subban is the saviour. (frank) buddy, come on. |

Bring in Hitchcock on a two year deal, and Green as Associate coach. Similar transition with what he had in St, Louis with Yeo. if WD can stomach it, I'd really like to see him in the AHL as I think he will do a better job on preparing the kids there for the NHL.
I really have no complaints about WD as a coach and his development of youth or even line deployment, but the PP and PK clearly speak for themselves. |

Luongo, Schneider, Lack and Markstrom all thrived while working under the coaching of Rollie Melanson. Now Melanson's working with Demko and he's starting to look pretty good.
Markstrom got switched over to working under Cloutier this season and there appears to have been some deterioration in his game. Not a lot, but some.

Rollie is the man. Glad he's working on our future elite goalie Demko |

exactly. why would we do it again? we have Baertschi so we don't need a 23 year old 6 goal scorer. Even if the cost minimal where does he play? Let's draft our own players. |

"He has often been outmatched by more skilled counterparts and has seemed reluctant to make strategic adjustments when something's not working on the ice. "
This is something I was talking about 2 losing seasons ago....after the calgary series. 2 losing seasons later people are finally coming to realize this. THis coach is NOT nhl quality and will not win in this league without a stacked bunch of assistants doing all the real work for him. |

I disagree with Carol in that I don't believe Markstrom's development stalled, if anything the organization is at fault for overplaying Miller AGAIN. Markstrom's numbers are similar to last year, his GAA actual went down, although he played seven less games.
His save percentage was 0.915 last year, 0.910 this year and the team is arguably worse this year.
Cloutier said he's just building on what Rollie taught Marky, some minor tweaks but that's it. |

hitchcock is a genius technical coach yes, but tends to get players extremely pissed at him. I'd say no to him as HC, which he intends to retire from anyways.
He could run the D or special teams.
Personally I'd say hiring him as a team consultant makes better sense. Can tweak the team systems and work with coaching staff. Improve the D as well.
Would be a part time gig which is more in line for him |

Melanson's strategy is all about technique and consistency. Markstrom's had some lights out games and some stinkers this year. I'd argue his usage by WD was impacted by some soft goals in a few games. Didn't see as much of that last year. |

Why would Hitchcock want to been an assistant coach in Van? He doesn't seem like the type of guy that would leave his "coaching retirement" to be an assistant coach for a brutal team. He isn't known for patience and he won't want a career demotion |
